Clos Rougeard 'Les Poyeux' - Saumur Champigny 2015

Clos Rougeard has always been a unique estate within the Saumur-Champigny appellation. While most winemakers opted for a high-yield viticulture, producing wines that were not always of impeccable quality, the Foucault brothers, Charly and Nady, continued the tradition of their ancestors by crafting distinctive wines that emphasize freshness and smoothness. This is a 'haute couture' viticulture with low yields, long aging in barrels, and fermentation using indigenous yeasts, which has allowed this 10-hectare estate to produce terroir wines considered among the most representative of the appellation, with significant aging potential (15 to 25 years).

Slightly sanguine, with beautiful notes of violet, rose, and 'al dente' blackcurrant, always accompanied by a hint of menthol and mint upon aeration. Juicy and fleshy, the palate consistently impresses with the quality of its tannins, the tension, and a finish with such distinctive aromas. Very flavorful and slightly salty. Stunningly precise and fresh.
