The class T 478.1 is a CSD diesel-electric general-purpose locomotive. The locomotives owe their nickname Bardotka to their striking exterior, named after Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot, a former French model, former film actress, singer and erotic icon of the 1970s. Between 1966 and 1971, 230 series locomotives were built for CSD at the CKD plant in Prague.
