The Eichberg vineyard at Kaiserstuhl typically yields warm, mouth-filling wines with plenty of fruit and opulence, supported by a good acidity and strong minerality from the volcanic soil, though Salwey is always a bit more rugged.
On the nose: sloes, sour cherry, mint, eucalyptus, with subtle ethereal notes.
On the palate, a firm texture, grippy tannins with medium acidity, leafy, cool influences from an earlier harvest and 100% Pinot Noir in the must, appearing lean and incredibly precise; the tannins dissolve nicely, a very pleasant harmonious mouthfeel on the finish.
