USS Arizona (BB-39) (4843)

The USS Arizona is a battleship that was launched during the First World War. During her service, the ship was modernized.
The Arizona was present at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. During the attack, catastrophic explosions occurred on board the ship. ¾ of the crew were killed and the ship sank, becoming a symbol of the Japanese attack. The wreck of the battleship was never excavated. The superstructures that protruded above the water surface were removed, leaving only the barbette of the third main gun turret. In 1962, the mausoleum of the USS Arizona built on the wreck was dedicated.
