Dogs are increasingly affected by urinary tract problems, including kidney and bladder infections, bladder stones, and incontinence. All three ingredients have traditionally been used for these problems, especially to support the mucous membranes and the body's natural defenses.
Cranberry, bog berry (Vaccinium sp.), contains anti-adhesive mucilages that prevent bacteria from adhering to the surfaces of the urinary tract. The bacteria are then flushed out with the urine.
Creeping quackgrass root (Agropyron repens) has diuretic and blood-purifying effects. Traditionally it is used for gout, rheumatic conditions, chronic bladder infections, and chronic skin rashes.
Bearberry leaves (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) contain, among other things, arbutin and methylarbutin, which exert antibacterial effects in the kidneys.
