The fun day with the twins Sarah and James turns out to be a dangerous competition between Chief Fireman Steele and Gareth, their grandfather. The two compete to see who can provide the twins with the best leisure program. All it takes is a moment's inattention and their boat floats straight towards a waterfall. It's also a hot day for Hannah and Joe, who are stuck on a cliff-top barbecue that gets out of hand and Mandy decides to give her garden a makeover. There's also a pet show in Pontypandy, where the animals are on their best behavior, and Norman pulls out his old tricks as he's determined to win this year's cheese race.
