Togouchi Beer Cask Finish 40 Japan

Togouchi Beer Cask Finish is a specially created blended whisky with only 36 blended casks. For this edition, the casks selected for the final maturation by the Sakurao distillery's Chief Blender are oak casks that were first used to mature Martinique rum in the French Caribbean and then to mature IPA beers in France.

Togouchi Beer Cask Finish is marked on the nose by the influence of IPA beer transmitted during the maturation process with notes of hops, but also the honeyed flavors of rum inherited from Martinique rum. Despite its young age, it expresses a nice complexity in the mouth with aromas of baked apples, nuts and corn flakes all wrapped in a discreet peat. In the finish, it disappears gently leaving behind the sweetness of honey, the finesse of peat and a slight bitterness.

Togouchi whiskies have the particularity to be only aged, blended, diluted in Japan and highlight the blending work for the future productions of Sakurao distillery. The ageing of the whisky casks imported from Scotland and Canada takes place in a unique site: a 361m long tunnel dug in 1970 offering ideal conditions of maturation (constant temperature of 14°C and humidity of 80%). Part of their Japanese character is transmitted by the terroir through the spring water used for the reduction of the alcoholic volume which is drawn from the heart of the preserved mountains of the Sandankyo natural park.
