Description
Where maximum reliability and the easiest handling are at stake, our timber construction screws come into play. Their strengths, such as a markedly reduced driving torque and the very small tolerance/gap, are particularly in demand in timber construction, as the typically used large timber dimensions allow a quick drive of the wood screws, delivering real time savings. We leverage this especially in structural timber construction, where our partial- and full-thread screws are used for high-load and durable wood connections. The big advantage of such a fastening is that the usual sheet-metal components and fittings for wood joints are completely eliminated. In addition to cost-effectiveness — fittings often have to be pried out — the much nicer pure wood appearance also plays an important role. This means for you: you save a lot of money on expensive wood connectors that do not contribute to the look of a timber structure. High-load and durable wood connections can be made in the easiest way. The special driving system - T-STAR plus - is a so-called internal hex. Compared to poorly fitting drive types such as Philips or slotted, the engagement surface in our T-STAR plus increases manyfold, and the T-STAR plus bits always sit optimally in the screw head. The resulting best possible, precise power transfer from driver to screw via T-STAR plus enables easy and extremely rapid work, and this is much more efficient than with all other drives. In contrast to partial thread, the full thread on most of our full-thread screws runs along the entire length from tip to head. The more thread turns a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be absorbed by these screws. We leverage this especially in structural timber construction, where full-thread screws are used for high-load wood connections. That means for you: wood connections with full-thread screws can be fully trusted in terms of load capacity, no need for ugly galvanized fittings. Our designation 4CUT for the tip of our screws describes the fact that it is not round, but square-shaped. These four edges displace the wood fibers during driving and thus create room for the core diameter of the screw. The otherwise unavoidable splitting pressure exerted by the core in the wood is thus effectively reduced and edge splintering is decreased. Also the necessary torque of the cordless drill is reduced, as the core of the screw does not have to crush into the wood. This means for you: even in the typically tear-prone edge area of your workpiece, almost no pre-drilling is needed! With 4CUT you save an entire step. For constructions in not weather-exposed exterior areas, effective corrosion protection of the screws is essential. Here SPAX has developed WIROX coating, which is superior to conventional galvanization in terms of protection and durability. With WIROX-coated screws, our screws are significantly more resistant to mechanical stress than the yellow-chromated counterparts. No Chromium(VI) is used with WIROX, so the screws are not only as load-bearing after years in not directly weather-exposed exterior areas, but also absolutely environmentally friendly. Our WIROX screws are the first choice for all open structures without direct exposure to the weather, such as carports or pergolas; for particularly strong weathering exposure, such as on terraces, we still recommend our stainless steel version.
