In 1972, Jean-Claude Andruet (nicknamed "La Panique") was one of the official Alpine drivers. It is only logical that he should compete in the Monte Carlo Rally. Nevertheless, the 41st edition of the Rally Monte-Carl' was not a good place for the Alpine drivers. Andruet finished in 26th place, directly behind his team colleague Bernard Darniche!
