Recipes:
Classic Matcha:
Sieve
Pour 1-2 bamboo spoons of matcha through the powder sieve into the bowl. This avoids lumps.
Add water
Pour approx. 60-70 ml of hot water (approx. 80 °C) into the bowl.
Whisking
Whisk the matcha with the whisk in M or W movements for 15-20 seconds until a fine foam forms.
Enjoy
Pour the matcha into your cup or enjoy it straight from the bowl.
Matcha latte:
Ingredients:
1-2 bamboo spoons (chashaku) of matcha powder
60-70 ml hot water (approx. 80 °C)
150-200 ml milk or plant-based drink (e.g. oat, soy, almond)
Optional: sweetener (e.g. agave syrup, honey, vanilla syrup)
Preparation:
Sieve the matcha
So that it dissolves perfectly and does not form lumps.
Pour in hot water
Add approx. 60-70 ml of water at 80 °C and whisk vigorously with the matcha whisk (chasen) until frothy - preferably in a zigzag motion (M or W).
Froth the milk
Heat and froth the milk as desired (e.g. with a milk frother or steam nozzle).
Combine
Pour the matcha into a glass or cup and add the frothed milk.
Optional sweetening
Now sweeten to taste - your creamy matcha latte is ready!
Iced matcha latte:
Ingredients:
1-2 bamboo spoons of matcha
60-70 ml cold or lukewarm water
150-200 ml cold milk or plant-based drink
ice cubes
Optional: sweetener
Preparation:
Sieve matcha
Also important when cold to avoid lumps.
Mix with water
Mix matcha with cold or slightly warm water. If you don't want to use a chaser, you can also use a small milk frother or shaker.
Add ice to the glass
Fill the glass with ice cubes.
Add milk
Pour cold milk or plant-based drink onto the ice.
Pour in the matcha
Now pour the mixed matcha over the top - for the classic "layer" effect, it is best to run it slowly over the back of a spoon.
Optional sweetening & stirring
If you like, add syrup or sweetener - stir or serve in layers.
