The objective of this book is to give toddlers reference points that speak to them and materialize time.

The author unfolds time from a feeling that little ones know "it's fast, it's slow, it changes all the time...". Then, the fragments of time are defined by what they allow. Thus, one second is enough "for a kiss blown to Valentine or a funny face to Horace". Time is running out: one minute, thirty minutes, one hour, half a day, a day, the weekend, a month, a season, a year. The actions allowed by these durations are quite convincing. Half an hour is enough time to put on clothes or decorate ribbons. A half-day, the time of a tide, seems less perceptible.

In any case, the quality of the text, its rhythm and its inventiveness: that of the illustration which proposes actions of cutting, forms, bright colors, will find their place in the libraries of the small ones to speak about the time which passes, sometimes so long and always abstract.
