L'Envol' signed by Jeannot Bewing

"L'envol" seems to float above its pedestal, flapping in the wind like a steel flag, agile and strong at the same time. It's a true testament to the talent of Jeannot Bewing, who manages to imbue this simple metal form with remarkable movement, dynamism and momentum.

Jeannot Bewing is one of Luxembourg's greatest sculptors of the 20th century. Born in Esch-sur Alzette in 1931, he created his first wooden sculpture in 1959 in a highly figurative style. But metal soon became the medium of choice, and in 1972 he began a long series of metal sculptures, which have enjoyed undiminished success in public and private collections.
