Gold-plated brass

The Diekirch fibula is one of the archaeological treasures of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Preserved and exhibited at the Musée National d'Histoire et d'Art de Luxembourg, this Merovingian discoid brooch dating from the second half of the 7th century A.D. was discovered on the site of the St Laurent church in Diekirch in 1992. This is the first evidence that the Gallo-Roman building was used as a church as early as the mid-7th century. The original fibula is in bronze, covered with thick gold leaf, decorated with 4 almandine garnets and encircled by a string of fine gold pearls. It was probably used as ceremonial jewelry. Produced in partnership with the Musée National d'Histoire et d'Art de Luxembourg, this brooch-pendant is in 18-carat gold-plated brass, inlaid with colored resins. This jewel respects every detail of the original work, bringing it back to life after 14 centuries of dormancy.
