Pablo is spherical, particularly juicy and tastes excellent. The flesh is a uniform deep dark red without any contrasting rings. High levels of minerals and vitamins make the low-calorie tubers particularly valuable. Good storage properties in a cool cellar until spring.

• Location Description: Beetroot thrives in all moist, humus-rich garden soils in a sunny or semi-shady location. The heavier, more mineral-rich and more fertile the soil, the better.
• Tips: Do not sow before mid-April, as the soil must already be sufficiently warmed up otherwise shoots will easily appear. The young, tender turnips the size of radishes are particularly tasty; if they are sown too densely, they will sprout in June. They are served sweet and sour and are a real delicacy as 'baby beets'.
