Description

Optimal substrate
The substrate is an important part of the aquarium setup, as many animals dig and search for food in the soil. Plants also need to find a secure foothold in it and absorb food from the soil with their roots. Digging fish absolutely need a substrate that is not sharp-edged. Bottom heating is only recommended for medium-fine to coarser bottom ground, because no proper water circulation can occur with very fine bottom ground.

Application
Rinse the substrate under tap water to remove abrasion caused by transport. Place the substrate on top of the nutrient medium (JBL AquaBasis) to promote plant growth (approx. 6-8 cm for vigorous plant growth).
Calculation formula
The correct amount of substrate: length (cm) x width (cm) : 140 = kg substrate at 5 cm thickness.

  • Perfect hold for plant roots: Substrate with 0.2-0.6 mm grain size for freshwater and saltwater aquariums and terrariums
  • Vital plant growth: Prevents seepage of mulm and other debris due to fine grain size and dense storage
  • Optimal for fish, invertebrates and plants: No release of unwanted pollutants into the water. Fine granite sand is gentle on the sensitive barbels of bottom-dwelling fish
  • No light reflections - full color splendor of the plants and fish: Shy animals feel more comfortable and show their full natural color splendor
  • Scope of delivery: 1 bag of Sansibar Dark. Rather unsuitable for bottom heating cables
