Steam locomotive 1.002

They were, above all in Europe, the bread-and-butter locomotives of premium high-speed service: powerful steam locomotives with wheel arrangement 2’C1’, equipped with two leading axles, three usually tall driving axles and a trailing axle, a design that offered high speeds with strong pulling power. The designation Pacific comes from the USA, where this locomotive type was first introduced in 1901. On our continent Belgium, from 1935 with the Class 1, not only built one of the heaviest and strongest Pacific runners. Their imposing appearance also stood for the Belgians' pride in the achievements of their railway company. Locomotive 1.002 was preserved and was made operational again in 1985 for the great 150-year celebration. Today the runner stands as a well-maintained, but unfortunately no longer drivable exhibit in the Museum of the Chemin de fer à vapeur des 3 vallées in Treignes. Now the new, wonderful Märklin model of this legendary museum locomotive, with the elegant green-red-black livery, a perfectly authentic sound and a prototype-accurate steam generator can keep alive the vivid memory of this superb Pacific – in miniature, as a fascinating contrast to today’s modern rail stars.

Adjustable coupling with a kinematic between locomotive and tender. On the tender, kinetically guided Kurzkupplung with NEM-socket. Unrestricted curve-running of the locomotive on a radius of 437.5 mm (radius 2). Brake hoses, screw-coupling imitation and signal holder are included. Length over buffers approx. 28.4 cm

In 1926, the Chemins de l’État belge was renamed to the Société nationale des chemins de fer belges (SNCB), which later, in Belgium's official German language usage, was translated as 'National Society of Belgian Railways'.
