Drop-shot fishing is a popular and extremely successful method of spin fishing. But success depends not least on the right hook and the optimum mounting.
Pike anglers in particular need a hook variant that can be easily mounted in conjunction with steel or titanium. Normal dropshot hooks are rather unsuitable here. But also the knot shy and assembly hectic among you will often want a user-friendly dropshot hook.
Here Gamakatsu offers the right tool with the Swivel Shot hook. The hook is firmly threaded on a swivel, which is equipped with a clamping eye at the lower end for the lower leader end made of monofilament or fluorocarbon.
Thus, the hook can either be knotted to a fluorocarbon leader at the upper eye, but just as well be connected to a steel or titanium leader by the use of clamping sleeves to make the whole matter pike-proof. At the bottom, a piece of nylon of any length is then simply clamped to the end with the weight.
Pleasant side effect: Due to the clamping eye directly on the swivel, you do not need to use a special dropshot weight. Also normal pear or ball weights can be changed quickly and flexibly. When using a lead hanger, the end of the line is pulled out of the clamping eye, just like with the dropshot weights, and you only lose the lower part of the mount without losing the fish.
The hook is fixed with the eye on the swivel. This allows it to rotate around the mount, but it always stands out nicely at a 90° angle so that the bait can play optimally. Leader tangles are also a thing of the past.
The Gamakatsu Swivel Shot Hook is chemically sharpened and razor sharp. The small barb offers little resistance to hook point penetration and holds the fish bombproof at all times. The hook is black nickel plated and therefore highly resistant to corrosion.
