DB AG procured two types of cab control cars for InterCity service. The 75 units of type Bpmbdzf 296 (originally Bpmbdzf 297) are pressure-tight and air-conditioned, have swivel sliding doors and spacious seating. In contrast to the type Bimdzf 271, the side members have aerodynamic aprons.
