This limited-edition whisky was distilled on October 28, 1998 and put into American oak casks before being transferred to first-fill Manzanilla sherry casks on May 25, 2016 to finish.
Manzanilla sherry is said to be coastal, salty and nutty ' characteristics similar to Bunnahabhain spirits. Although less well known and not produced as often as some other sherrys, it's something master blenders and master distillers love to use with this whisky.
Bottled raw from the cask to give a more intense, concentrated flavor, like all Bunnahabhain whiskies, this limited release has no added color and is not chill-filtered.
Notes of freshly baked pastry with sweet almonds, rose petals, grapefruit and dried spices are balanced by a touch of mahogany and incense. The coastal influence of seaweed and fresh sea air mingles with raisins and dates, and is interwoven with waxed red apples and a warm, sweet spice reminiscent of star anise.
