Whether for notes, fine outlines or expressive shading: The Faber-Castell Goldfaber 1221 accompanies you in writing, drawing and sketching. The pencils are available as single pencils in hardness grades from 6B to 4H. This lets you selectively choose your preferred hardness or complete your drawing setup.

The hexagonal barrel sits comfortably in the hand and prevents the pencil from easily rolling away on a flat work surface. Its blue finish with gold stripes gives the Goldfaber its distinctive look. The lead is protected by the Spezialverleimung SV bruchgeschützt – practical for daily use in school, office and creative work.

Which hardness grade suits your application?

Soft pencils lay down more graphite and produce darker strokes. Hard pencils are suitable for lighter, finer lines. The pressure you apply when drawing and the surface of your paper also matter.

– 6B to 4B: especially soft, for strong shading, dark areas and expressive sketches
– 3B to B: for freehand drawing, outlines and smoother transitions
– HB and F: for everyday writing and controlled lines
– H to 4H: for fine details, light construction lines and precise underdrawings

Tip: For getting started with drawing, HB, 2B and 4B pair well. Start with a loose initial sketch and add darker areas with the softer pencils. With hard grades, little pressure is enough to avoid ridges in the paper.
