About Riviera
Riviera Cashmere Riviera works with small commercial enterprises in close contact with Mongolian Capra Hircus goat farmers, natural producers of cashmere, on the edge of the Gobi desert.
These companies work in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which helps herders reduce the impact of upstream cashmere production, transition to new sustainable production models in the southern Gobi Desert region of Mongolia, and work to improve fiber quality, grazing management and biodiversity conservation.
This also involves changing breeding techniques and improving the health and living conditions of the goats. Farmers are also trained in better herd management. This optimized management allows them to reduce the size of their herd without fearing a loss of income, but always being assured of a fair and equitable income.
WCS also supports the development of a certification system to validate and control environmental, social and animal welfare impacts.
Riviera only works with goat-breeding families who paint their goats and do not shear them, who are respectful of their good health, precisely because their goats are their most precious "asset".
