Dammar

The dammar from the company Schmincke is a natural palembang dammar which consists of selected, especially bright pieces. It is suitable for self-production of oil auxiliaries, tempera emulsions and varnishes. The damar is soluble in turpentine oil (50024, 50102) and turpentine substitute (50019).

Processing instructions:

• Dammar in pieces is soluble in turpentine oil (50024 / 50102) or turpentine substitute (50019).
• The standard Dammar solution is a mixture of Dammar in pieces with the solvents mentioned above in a ratio of 1 : 3 (by weight). Our recommendation: put the product with one of the above solvents in a clean, well-sealed container, e.g. in a glass bottle, and put/put it in such a way that the product surface is at a maximum for better dissolving. Dissolving the resin takes a relatively long time: as a guideline for a total quantity of 400 g Dammar solution, approx. 6 hours can be assumed. The process can be accelerated by briefly shaking the contents of the container several times in between. (Important: Dissolving should be carried out at room temperature and under no circumstances by heating the resin solution).
• Clean tools immediately after use with turpentine substitute (50019), turpentine oil (50024 / 50102) or brush cleaner (50051 / 50052).
• A re-dried Dammar solution remains soluble for a long time in Turpentine Substitute (50019), Turpentine Oil (50024 / 50102) or Varnish Remover (50060).
• Close containers immediately after use.
• Store in a cool and dry place.
• Individual pre-tests are recommended.
