A superlative expression of Champagne's Grand Cru Chardonnay, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs comes from our vineyards in Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant. The winemaking process is unaffected by any additions, and all initial fermentations take place in stainless steel vats.
A light dosage preserves the purity of expression of the wines from the vineyards surrounding the village of Le Mesnil, ensuring an intact mineral style. In keeping with the essence of our vineyards, that 'chalky' Champagne feel, the Blanc de Blancs cuvée is blended with no more than 10% reserve wines.
Our Chardonnay grows on pure chalk soil, producing a rather austere wine in its youth; aging on laths - well beyond the legal 15 months - therefore extends over 4 to 5 years before disgorgement, which does not exclude post-disgorgement aging to further sublimate the finesse and elegance of this cuvée.
