Description
Clos Rougeard has always been a unique estate within the Saumur-Champigny appellation. While most winemakers opted for high-yield viticulture, producing wines that weren't always of impeccable quality, the Foucault brothers, Charly and Nady, continued the legacy of their ancestors by crafting distinct wines that emphasize freshness and smoothness. This is a 'haute couture' viticulture with low yields, long aging in barrels, and fermentation with indigenous yeasts, which has allowed this 10-hectare estate to produce terroir wines that are considered among the most representative of the appellation, with significant aging potential (15 to 25 years).
Linden, a hint of verbena, anise, and a touch of iodine alongside mineral notes. The palate is soft and tender with beautiful tension, linearity, and an overall magical precision. Ethereal on the finish. Subtly elegant.
