Description

The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized programmable computer. The micro:bit is able to detect movement, has a built-in compass, an LED display and Bluetooth.

The micro:bit Go Bundle gives you everything you need to get the micro:bit up and running. This kit contains the BBC micro:bit, a short USB cable, a AAA battery holder and matching AAA batteries. Also included is a quick start guide with four unique ideas to get you started with the micro:bit!

Scope of delivery

  • 1x BBC micro:bit board

  • 1x micro USB cable - 15 cm

  • 1x battery holder for 2xAAA

  • 2x AAA battery

About the BBC micro:bit

The micro:bit board measures only 4 x 5 cm and is available in a variety of colors. The whole system is designed to be relatively easy and fun to develop. Even without prior knowledge, the micro:bit can be programmed in seconds, e.g. to switch on an LED or display a pattern.

There is a 5x5 LED matrix on the front of the board. On the back is the "brain" of the micro:bit - a 16 MHz 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller with 256KB Flash, 16KB RAM and a built-in temperature sensor.

There is also an acceleration sensor, a compass and a Bluetooth antenna on the back. The micro USB port and the 2-pin JST socket are also located here.

At the bottom of the board there are 20 gold-plated pins and five ring connectors (three for digital/analog I/O, two for power and ground) for connecting external components. The pins with larger holes can simply be used with crocodile clips.

The BBC micro:bit can be programmed via a USB cable as well as via a Bluetooth connection.

Other devices, sensors, sets and objects can also be connected to the micro:bit. The system is a companion for Arduino, Galileo, Kano, littleBits and Raspberry Pi - it serves as a stepping stone to more complex learning units.

Each micro:bit can be programmed with a simple software, which is available on the official website(http://microbit.org/de/code/).
