In 1998, Cognac Lhéraud expanded and diversified by acquiring the company Baron Gaston Legrand, which had been a traditional Armagnac producer in Lannepax, in the Bas-Armagnac appellation, for over 120 years. The good preservation of the buildings, the cellars, and the historical stills, is a guarantee of quality, and thus allows the best vinification and excellent distillation of the cultivated grape varieties, such as Ugni Blanc, Baco, Folle Blanche and Colombard. The distillation of Armagnac differs from that of Cognac by a process of "continuous distillation". Marking excellence, all Baron Gaston Legrand Armagnacs are aged in typical barrels made of Gascony oak, and Limousin black oak. The domain is specialized in the production and the maturation of vintage Armagnacs of great finesse. One can find in the private cellar of the Lheraud family, Armagnacs dating back to 1888.
