Medium W

Medium W from Schmincke is a liquid ("lean") painting medium for processing oil paints with water instead of organic solvents such as turpentine oil or turpentine substitute. It increases gloss and transparency, lowers viscosity, harmonizes drying and has low odor. Shake before use. Pre-mix 2 parts of oil paint with 1 part of Medium W on a palette, then add water if necessary. Add further Medium W if necessary. Painting equipment can be cleaned with water. There is no impairment of the product quality in case of color shade variations due to the raw material alkyd resin. Dosage: 50%, diluent: water

Processing instructions:

• Shake before use.
• Pre-mix 2 parts of oil paint with 1 part of Medium W on a pallet; then add water as required; continue to add Medium W as required.
• Clean tools immediately after use with water or soap and water.
• In the undried state, a color shade shift of the oil paints mixed with Medium W and water can be observed. (Mixture becomes "milky"; effect depends on the color tone of the oil paint and on the amount of water added; the following applies: the darker the oil paint and the higher the proportion of water, the lighter the still wet color application appears; effect is also typical for ready-to-use water-miscible oil paints!)
• Close containers immediately after use.
• Store in a cool and dry place.
• Individual pre-tests are recommended.
