Crackling paste for creating crackles

Pasty acrylic paste for creating white crackles in acrylic painting, as well as for texturing, modeling designs on grease-free, load-bearing, preferably rigid substrates such as primed wood or painting boards. It dries with high tension and has a matt, fine surface, with a highly absorbent character. Therefore, it is ideal for overpainting or direct mixing with acrylic paints.

Processing instructions

• Krakelier paste is adjusted ready for use and is best applied pure or mixed with acrylic paints (max. 30%) with a spatula or similar on a grease-free surface. (Paste has lightening effect!).
• The drying process and the craquelure image are strongly dependent on the layer thickness and the amount of acrylic paint added. Best results are achieved at temperatures around 18-25°C, with the drying process taking several hours. Heat-forced drying has a very strong influence on the craquelure image.
• Pre-treat critical substrates with Schmincke Gesso (50518) beforehand.
• Clean tools immediately after use with water or soap and water. Acrylic paints that have already dried can be removed with Brush Cleaner (50051 / 50052).
• The product can be painted over with acrylic paints or the cracks can be colored. (Observe absorbency). The absorbency can be reduced with the following Schmincke products: Impregnation/Pre-Primer (50510), Impregnation/Deep Primer (50511) or Painting Agent (50550).
• Do not use the product below 12°C object and room temperature.
• Close containers immediately after use.
• Store in a cool and dry place.
• Protect from frost.
• Individual pre-tests are recommended.
