Tasting set of 3 bottles of orange wines
Orange wines are made from white grapes and fermented on the skin in Qvevri. These wines are actually bright orange in color. Qvevri wines offer intense aromas and unheard-of fruit flavors. These include oxidizing notes, developed thanks to the porosity of the container.
Beyond color, fermentation in contact with the skin also increases the presence of tannins. Tannins are common in red wines, but are particularly noticeable in white wines, giving them a distinctive taste that may surprise the unaccustomed consumer.
For maximum pleasure, whites should be served at a cool (12-15°C) but not cold cellar temperature, to fully appreciate their complexity.
Mtsvivani Qvevri - with notes of honey, dried fruit, fresh grapes and a long finish.
Pair with poularde à la crème, walnut tart or cheese.
Rkatsiteli Qvevri - with the more mineral notes characteristic of this grape variety.
Serve with poularde with morel mushrooms, fish with walnuts (a Georgian specialty) or cheese,
And the Kisi Qvevri.
