Fluorocarbon enthusiasts who appreciate the unique properties of FC (such as abrasion resistance, stretch behavior/sensitivity, casting performance, durability, visibility) use STROFT FC1 as leader and tippet material because this line is tuned for maximum knot strength.

The STROFT FC 1 boasts some of the highest load capacities ever achieved with lines made of 100% fluorocarbon. Special attention is paid to tuning the knot strength for each diameter, optimizing them for peak performance. Due to this very important feature and other advantageous properties of STROFT fluorocarbon, such as abrasion resistance, sink rate, fine load stretch, hook setting stretch, casting performance-fly leader tip, durability, and visibility/invisibility (see also catalog under fluorocarbon), STROFT FC 1 is ideal for all types of leaders. Speaking of properties – a major difference between fluorocarbon lines and nylon lines, which is often controversially discussed in specialist publications, is the stretch, or better said, the stretch behavior under various line loads (see also the diagram on catalog page 10 “Stretch Properties”). For example, the blue curve of the nylon alloys from GTM and ABR shows a wavy characteristic, while the black dashed characteristic of FC 1 and FC 2 represents a straight line that intersects the blue curve at about 50% line load. This means: In high load areas, FC 1 and FC 2 exhibit greater stretch than GTM and ABR, while in the hook setting area, the stretch of the lines is quite similar, and in the fine load area, the stretch of FC 1 and FC 2 is lower, meaning -> better sensitivity, feedback, bite detection. All properties that users can clearly feel in practice. Therefore, if these fine load characteristics are desired, FC 1 and FC 2 are also the first choice as main lines. However, we recommend choosing FC 2 as the main line due to the high price of FC1 and using FC 1 as leader material. This is more cost-effective and serves the same purpose.
