THIS IS NOT COFFEE, BUT LUPINE
Lupine is often marketed as "coffee" but except for the method of preparation, the two have nothing to do with each other. The reason, as coffee substitute then Lupine to drink around only on caffeine to
do without, does not become fair the valuation of the beverage

.

With the Lupine you can also discover completely new taste worlds. Already known for many years, lupine is becoming a real trend drink with a wonderfully fresh and mildly aromatic taste.

The lupine is what?
The lupine is a plant which belongs to the same plant family as the pea or the bean. In the past, the plant was widespread, especially in fields and farms, and provided beautiful sights with its bright and white flowers. The basic form of the lupine is poisonous, which is mainly indicated by the strong bitter substances. However, from 1926, through selective breeding, the sweet lupine was developed, which is still widespread today.

Nowadays, the sweet lupine can be found mainly on farms with organic cultivation, as the plant is ideal for recultivating the soil in the crop rotation. Thus, the lupine is used as an effective green manure in many farms and is cultivated accordingly on a large scale. As a crop, the lupine has only recently come back into focus. Especially the lupine as a hot beverage enjoys great popularity. Lupins are harvested in late summer, when the seeds are fully ripe. These must be cleaned and dried before being refined in the roasting process. Lupine is a great alternative for those who want to expand their
culinary horizons and discover new taste sensations.

Taste and aroma

The preparation and production are based on the classic coffee. However, aroma, taste have nothing to do with a facet¬ten rich brewed coffee. There is a real complexity of different flavors, which are quite different and very interesting in lupine. Slight hints of nuts, almonds and roasted notes mingle with a full body of flavor with very little bitterness.

This is why it tastes good on a wide variety of occasions.
Whether as a "stout" in the evening after a good meal, as an "extended" in the afternoon. Also as a start to the day and as a power drink not to be despised.
The aroma of the lupine is mainly influenced by the roasting. For example, lupins that are roasted longer and thus darker, but without greatly increasing the temperature, become significantly spicier. Above all, they are given more time in the roasting process, which results in a more complex development of aromas. This thus offers the opportunity to try out different varieties and
roasts, and then discover the perfect lupine drink for yourself. For now, anyway!

Preparation for the French Press
- 7g-9g (= one coffee lot) per cup/160ml brew with
hot water
- stir, steep for 3 minutes, ready
Preparation traditional in the cup
- 7g-9g
- 160ml hot water
- stir, steep for 3 minutes, ready
The manufacturing process: how is the lupine roasted?
The plant "lupine" does not contain any stimulating substances such as
for example, teein / caffeine
In addition, it is quite harmonious in flavor, because the
roasting process is carried out over a long period of time and with a low final temperature. Thus, the lupins do not become bitter, as they do not burn during the roasting process.
The end result is dark, but not black lupins, which exude a powerful aroma.

These can now be easily ground for the lupine drink in a grain or better coffee grinder and prepared in the same way as coffee. The quality of the lupins is of great importance for the taste of the final product. Because only fully matured and
accordingly well sorted lupins unfold their full aroma after roasting and can convince by the complexity of the taste.

Tip: "Lupine Cold Brew"
Try the lupine once in chilled form. A pleasant thirst quencher, which knows how to convince both with its taste and the lack of caffeine. Ideal for hot and long summer days.
