How do you make a good children's shoe?

It quickly became clear that we needed a partner for this project who not only had the knowledge about and the technology for the production of shoes. He should also share our passion for natural materials and live our philosophy of sustainable production.

With the company Werner 1911 from Pirmasens we have found such a partner. Werner has been manufacturing shoes for over a hundred years and brings a lot of know-how to our project.

Florian Werner and his team are no strangers when it comes to sustainably manufactured shoes made of pure natural materials. Whenever there is talk of well-made handicrafts, when a fresh design and the use of natural leather is in demand, the name Werner comes up in the shoe scene.

Florian Werner is not only concerned with shoe production itself. Like us, he starts right at the front of the supply chain. The pastures, the species-appropriate animal husbandry, the vegetable tanning, the dyeing of the leather. It all makes sense and adds up to an amazing natural material - the finest organic natural leather.

The shoes are made in Werner workshops in Romania and Slovakia.
They are sold at disana. With some pride under the label "disana & werner 1911".

Material

Lining and applications are made of 100% chrome-free, vegetable tanned leather from controlled organic animal husbandry. The leather production meets the guidelines for the quality mark "IVN Naturleder".

The cover sole is also covered with natural leather. An underlining made of coconut fiber provides more comfort.

The outsole is made of 100% natural rubber. It is very flexible and thus facilitates the rolling of the foot. Nevertheless, it provides sufficient protection and support. The sole is raised at the front. As an additional protection - for foot and material.

Wool felt made of soft organic virgin wool and natural leather complement each other perfectly in our shoe. Both are breathable and release excess moisture to the outside. For a pleasant foot climate. Both materials are soft and adapt to the shape of the foot. But together they provide support and strength for the healthy development of children's feet.

Care

To clean, let dry and brush with a soft clothes brush.

Dab stains carefully with disana wool shampoo and allow to soak in briefly. Then dab with a slightly damp cloth.

Do not put in the washing machine.

Many "waterproofing sprays" contain toxic substances that have no place on a child's foot. Instead, we recommend applying a thin lanolin solution with a flower sprayer. This way you increase the moisture repellent property of the wool fiber in the felt.
