Description

The name of the house "An Éim Néckels" dates back to 1844, when Nicolas Melchior, who comes from "Henkes", today's cultural center in Contern, after marrying Maria Reuter, moves across the street to the house on the "Kräizgaass", where they build up a farm. This is also where the name "Éim Néckels" originates. The old Luxembourgish word "Éim" stands for uncle. The children of the Gréit a Péiter who remained in "Henkes" called their uncle Nicolas Éim Néckel and so the house name was born. Today we continue the farm "An Éim Néckels" in the 6th generation. The main focus of the farm today is no longer dairy farming, but the cultivation of fruit and vegetables, as well as the distillery. As the name suggests, Éim Néckels whisky is something down to earth. It is a rye whisky. The rye comes from our own production, which is distilled together with our good Conter water from the "Millebur". Then it matures during 5 years in used sherry casks.
