Our timber construction screws come into play when maximum reliability and the simplest processing are required. Their strengths, such as a greatly reduced screw-in torque and the very low splitting effect, are particularly in demand in timber construction, as the large timber dimensions usually used mean that screwing in the wood screws quickly is a real time-saver. We make use of this in structural timber construction in particular, where our partially and fully threaded screws are used for heavy-duty and durable timber connections. The great advantage of this type of screw connection is that the usual sheet metal fittings and hardware for timber connections are no longer required. In addition to cost-effectiveness - fittings often have to be nailed out completely - the much more pleasant pure wood look also plays an important role. For you, this means that you save a lot of money on expensive timber connectors, which are not conducive to the appearance of a timber structure. You can produce heavy-duty and durable timber joints in the simplest possible way. The special force application - T-STAR plus - is a so-called hexalobular socket. Compared to less precise drive types such as Philips or Phillips, the contact surface of our T-STAR plus is many times larger and the T-STAR plus bits always sit perfectly in the screw head. The resulting best possible, precisely fitting power transmission from screwdriver to screw with T-STAR plus enables simple and extremely fast work, and much more efficiently than with all other drives. In contrast to the partial thread, the full thread of most of our fully threaded screws extends over the entire or almost entire length from the tip to the head. The more threads a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be absorbed by these screws. We make use of this particularly in structural timber construction, where fully threaded screws are used for heavy-duty timber joints. For you, this means that you can have complete confidence in the load-bearing capacity of timber joints with fully threaded screws, without the need for ugly galvanized fittings. Our designation 4CUT for the tip of our screws describes the fact that it is not round but square. These four edges displace the wood fibers during the screwing process and thus create space for the core diameter of the screw. The otherwise unavoidable expansion pressure exerted by the core in the wood is thus effectively reduced and splitting of the wood near the edges is minimized. The required torque of the cordless screwdriver is also reduced, as the core of the screw does not have to squeeze into the wood. For you, this means that virtually no pre-drilling is required, even in the otherwise tear-prone edge area of your workpiece! The 4CUT saves you a complete work step. Effective corrosion protection of the screws is essential for constructions in non-weathered outdoor areas. Here, SPAX has developed WIROX, a coating that is superior to conventional galvanizing in terms of protection and durability. Coated with WIROX, our screws are significantly more resistant to mechanical stress than their yellowish chromated counterparts. No chromium(VI) is used in WIROX, so the screws are not only just as resilient even after years in outdoor areas that are not directly exposed to the weather, but are also completely environmentally friendly. Our WIROX screws are the first choice for all open structures without direct weathering, such as carports or pergolas, but we still recommend our stainless steel screws for particularly heavy weathering, such as in patio areas.
